Available Nov 13–15 · 2 nights4 sites open for every nightA forested campground near fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.
Magpie Campground sits at about 5,200 feet on the banks of the South Fork of the Ogden River, roughly 6 miles east of Huntsville along Highway 39 as you head through Ogden Canyon toward Monte Cristo. The site is ringed by river-bottom vegetation mostly cottonwoods and the river runs immediately adjacent, which is why fishing and river tubing are the campground's main draws.

Length limits vary by campsite.

“There was no creek access at this site. The “tent pad” wasn’t even and very close to the next site with little to no privacy ”
“We really enjoyed our stay at the camp ground. Most of our visit we where all alone. So it was nice and quiet and peaceful.”
“Excellent fire pit and picnic table. Everything as clean as you can expect outdoors! Nice little path to the river. Lots of trees for shade. No complaints”

Sites open for booking 4 months ahead (Recreation.gov rules).
For July weekends, book about 95 days ahead. Three in four July Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 40 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (801 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
