Available Nov 13–15 · 2 nights28 sites open for every nightA forested campground near fishing, and mountain biking. RV fit varies by site.
Facilities at Winfield are practical and camper-focused: flush and vault toilets, hot showers, drinking water and a dump station, plus a playground and a boat ramp that give immediate access to the lake. On Thurmond Lake anglers fish for largemouth bass, striped bass, bream, crappie and catfish, and the wide waterway supports boating, water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing and swimming; the Corps of Engineers also manages a large wildlife program and hunting areas around the lake.

Length limits vary by campsite.

“love COE campgrounds. Please do not transfer to a county to maintain !!! Please keep Winfield open year round. The counties up and price and don't honor our senior passes. Winfield is the cleanest campground I've ever been to.”
“We love Winfield. The camp host Tonya and Nanatte are the best. They are always so helpful and accommodating. Our sites are always clean. We are always treated great!! ”

For September weekends, book about 125 days ahead. Three in four September Friday and Saturday arrivals were booked later than that, and half were booked 33 days or less before arrival. Past timing is guidance, not a guarantee of what is open now.

Months with fewer than 30 reservations of that kind are left blank. Sites where nearly every booking was made the day of arrival (pay on arrival) are left out. Closed seasons, windows not yet released for booking, and currently unavailable nights are separate from this history.
Based on Recreation.gov reservations, FY2015–2025 (17,628 reservations in the years scored). Counts reservations made, not nights actually camped: cancellations aren't in the data, and nights a site was closed count as not booked. FY2020–21 (COVID) are left out of the scores.
