Public campground · Carson City · 27 campsites · 1 group

A forested campground near trout fishing, hiking, and mountain biking. Most campsites have no hookups, and RV fit varies by site.

About this campground

Indian Creek Campground is currently CLOSED because of extensive damage from the 2021 Tamarack Fire and will remain closed until the Bureau of Land Management deems the area safe and facilities can be rebuilt; see the BLM press release for the latest status and reopening information. The site sits in the eastern foothills of the Sierra Nevada between Woodfords and Markleeville, spread across about 160 acres on the west bank of Indian Creek Reservoir at elevations roughly between 5,600 and 6,400 feet.

Verbatim from guest reviews on Recreation.gov ↗ (28 reviews, ★ 5.0). Not written or edited by us.

“Campground hosts did the best job of maintaining the site that I have ever seen. Five stars for that . The only negative was the blue-green algae bloom so I didn’t stay as long as I planned due to having dogs with me.”

Charles C 5 · Jan 2020 · Recreation.gov

“Camp Hosts were friendly & helpful. Campground & restrooms clean. Overall experience was great & will return.”

Robert M 5 · Jan 2020 · Recreation.gov

“Excellent, campsites, location is easy to get to, and not far at all from the backside of South Lake Tahoe, restrooms and showers just awesome, and some great hiking trails too. Highly recommend this campground. ”
